Artist Statement

The sounds, sights, and smells of a city stimulate my creative impulses. I seek out paintings of the urban landscape that conveys the city's character. I want the viewer to share the experiences I have exploring a city. To instill in the painting and the viewer the time, place, and energy that was present when the image caught my eye. Color and lighting play a strong role in my paintings. The more vibrant the colors in a scene or dramatic the lighting the better. Fleeting images along with traffic both pedestrian and vehicular makes capturing urban landscapes both challenging and fun. The modern urban city offers an unlimited number of subjects whether it is people, buildings, cars, trains, parks, or nature the city has it all to offer.
